Almost every night I walk from work to the nearest subway station. And almost every nite I smile to myself about how much I like working in this area. Its so alive. Not just the vibrancy of Queen W but the stink of Spadina, the witty homeless dudes (verbally abuse me for a buck), the shops and the eye candy. So much to eat, so many places to try. Today was General Tao at E-Tan, tonite its chicken congee and salty (GREASY) donuts.
Rather than digging out my massive novel and read on a cramped car, this will be the first of regular ponderings, in transit. First thing, build shorter sentences.
TTC Ettiquette. Please stand to one side of the door and please wait for us to get off before barreling on. Sometimes waiting for the next car is the only option. Pushing does help. Just because you got on the bus first doesn't mean u get to stand at the front -- move back. All the way back. If your backpack bumps me I will use it to steer you. Leaning against the pole allows only u to hold it. Feet in the aisle will be stepped on or kicked. Headphones impair your attention so we will move u instead of asking u 5 times loudly. Eat elsewhere if its anything but finger food. When coming up use the up escalator and if crowded be patient. If u do take all room on both stairs and escalator don't be surprised if u catch an elbow. If your pass isn't in your hand stand to the side not half way thru turnstile. Never stop suddenly on narrow stairs or platforms. Repeat, let me off before u ger on.
So it is finally real. I signed a contract and I will be working somewhere other than retail for the first time in 5 years. The New Company is paying me decently so I don't have to worry about money for the next few months. The work sounds good so I can now rebuild the damage done by the environment I was in. More is to be said on that but for now, I am here now (literally here in a chair having just signed contracts) at a new place and officially gone from The Store.
What is the purpose if mobile blogging if not to blog those times when u r forced to wait. J was slotted to arrive back from NS right now but the flight is delayed. I forgot the itinerary at home but luckily she had it in her hotmail.
So I sit and thumb type.
Airports are truly created for the leaving not the arriving. I had to wander for 10 mins to find coffee and 15 for intrnet. No chance for a beer -- those r only on the other side. It's all ugly out here and so pretty in there.
at least I have a book and room to wander. Maybe I could have some fun and leave a brown bag unattended on a seat? Nahh...
I need a bluetooth kb for this thing. I don't know how the crackberryheads do work on these things.
Well time to find a seat and hunker down.
getting troo?
