Along The Watchtower
Having been somewhat apathetic these days about watching structured TV, I did not watch Battlestar Galactica at the alloted times but downloaded the episodes and watched them in 3 story arcs. Yesterday morning concluded the season with another mind blowing ender.
This season was considered lacking by many, having too much introspection, too much exposition about the human's connection to the cylons, too much Baltar and not enough battles. I agreed somewhat. But perhaps it was because I was watching outside the normal frame of weekly waiting but I enjoyed the storylines and I wasn't as annoyed by the Trial Of Baltar as much as I thought I would be. I still wish he would just be tossed out an airlock but that is only because we, as the viewers, have seen the full extent of his crimes. The President and The Admiral only have a feeling. I believe this plot line of broader issues will come to a head where the cylons will become more than just tenacious pit bulls snapping at heels. Next season?
The failure of all the relationships (but the cylon/human coupling) is fascinating in that it means much more than it tells.
I will have to revisit and finish this post with some re-watching. (may 30/07)
